Creative problem solver

The best way to save Sausalito is not to try to freeze it in amber, it’s to adapt to the realities of the new present. Sausalito is a vibrant creative community full of doers, makers, innovators, iconoclasts. It is not a museum piece. Let’s rekindle this creative, innovative spirt and work together to make our town better!
— Sausalito Mayor Ian Sobieski

We Are Not Broke!

With a business and investment background, I've spent 25 years helping startups grow. So I know a thing or two about making money and building enterprises.

The city's budget is almost always balanced, and even when there is a deficit, it's usually minor. Despite challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, the tourism downturn, and the 2008 financial crisis, Sausalito has maintained an emergency reserve fund, akin to an untouched emergency savings account. Our finances have been conservatively managed, and we are not in dire straits.

However, we need to address our neglected infrastructure …

Fixing Our Infrastructure

I believe that Sausalito can similarly thrive by adopting a business-oriented approach that emphasizes expanding our resources rather than simply dividing them. There are straightforward strategies to boost economic activity, making our community more vibrant and increasing revenue without the need to raise taxes. This additional revenue can then be reinvested into enhancing our quality of life and upgrading our infrastructure.
